Burundi

Land and sea borders in Burundi are closed except for the movement of goods. There are limited commercial flights into and out of Bujumbura International Airport. You must present proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of boarding your flight when entering the country. On arrival you must complete a mandatory 7 days quarantine at your own cost and undergo a minimum of two COVID-19 tests during quarantine, the first on arrival and another on day 6 of quarantine. Those who test positive for COVID-19 will be transferred to treatment facilities at their own cost. Follow the advice of local authorities.

We continue to advise:

Do not travel to Burundi due to:

  • the high levels of violence and the significant threat of terrorist attack.
  • the health risks from the COVID-19 pandemic and the significant disruptions to global travel.
